My name is Caroline Duffy and I chose this topic because I have always been interested in making prisons and the U.S. criminal justice system more fair. According to the film 13th, “The United States is home to 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s prisoners.” This is why I chose this topic. I believe that it is a major injustice in our country that has many intertwining issues, including race. This issue has to be solved.
