Who Is HelPing?

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is at the forefront of the global fight to end human trafficking. They work to identify, disrupt, and dismantle human trafficking organizations and maintain national security/public safety. The National Action Plan outlines a three-year approach to fight human trafficking, strengthen prosecution, enlarge victim protection, and prevent crime within our borders. Another organization combating trafficking is the NCMEC or The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. What is My goal?

My goal is to spread awareness of the extent/dangers of human trafficking. I chose this topic because it is something that I am passionate about for a few different reasons. Firstly, the topic resonates with me because I feel that this is an issue that many do not acknowledge, as they do not know much about it. Secondly, it is a very real, yet obscure injustice because most illegal immigrants do not jump to talk to law enforcement on account of their immigration status. This fact not only makes gathering statistics on their disappearances a challenge but, ultimately ending the trafficking as a whole.

TO educate and spread awareness, I have created a petition and asked my friends and family to share it. This a great way to start small if you are unsure how to contribute! I have also donated a sum of money to the polaris project, an organization Founded in 2002,named for the North Star used as a guide to freedom. "Polaris serves as a data hub for the anti-human trafficking field, providing key data to hundreds of researchers, academics, law enforcement officers and others seeking to deepen knowledge. Polaris was also instrumental in the launch of a new U.N. initiative designed to help survivors of human trafficking get bank accounts that they would not otherwise qualify for because of poor credit and other issues related to their trafficking experience. Through this initiative, six major banks have committed to working with survivors of trafficking to extend specialized financial services in the United States with an additional five large banks participating in other jurisdictions. " Lastly, helping fight for tax exemptions for survivors of trafficking as well as centering them!
