Action Plan

Action

When researching groups that are currently advocating for the death penalty I came across a few I thought were making a positive initiative today. These groups include The Advocates for Human Rights, the Equal Justice Initiative, and Journey of Hope. While other organizations are working toward stopping the death penalty, these three groups resonated with me because of the way they were spreading their message. These organizations spread their message through panels, presentations, protests, and spreading awareness online. After seeing how these organizations are spreading awareness through giving presentations it gave me the idea for my action plan.

What have I done?

As I mentioned before, after learning about how organizations spread their message through presentations, I decided to do the same thing. When it came to deciding who I wanted to present to, I came up with the idea to present to the sophomore English classes at Fontbonne who read the novel, Just Mercy. Just Mercy was a reason I felt inspired to pick the death penalty as my social justice topic, so it only felt right to teach those who are reading the same book this year. For my action plan, I created a slideshow presentation then went into some of the sophomore English classes and presented. I also shared the slideshow presentation with all of the sophomore English students.

Death Penalty Presentation for Sophomores

This is the slideshow presentation I created to help teach and spread awareness on the death penalty.
