Themes of Catholic
Social Teaching

What are the 7 Themes of Catholic Social Teaching?

These 7 themes teach about the building of a just society and living lives of holiness in the modern society. The 7 themes are:

Life and Dignity of the Human Person

Human dignity are able to instill a greater sense of responsibility, a strong sense of community, a readiness to protect others, a spirit of creativity and a deep love for the land. The person is not only sacred but also social to seek for common good. This teaching correlates to how many people from cultures educate those to have a better understanding of their culture. How we organize our society, in economics, politics, in law and policy directly affects human dignity and the capacity of individuals to grow in community and that is true because we need to learn from our mistakes in order to grow. The way people teach is important because if you teach with a harsh attitude it would make the person uncomfortable, unless they know what they are doing. You should teach with an understanding that they do not know anything about your culture and telling them how to do it correctly.

Call to Family, Community, and Participation

In the Christian tradition, elements like calling to family community and participation is also similar to the efforts of teaching cultural appropriation. Groups and local individuals can make a big difference when they work together with the same problem.
