What can be done?

Awareness

Awareness is the first step to take to end substance abuse disorder.

What have I done?

Education is absolutely key in preventing substance abuse and addiction. Prioritizing stopping substance abuse before it even starts is extremely important regarding young people. Considering the youth community is especially vulnerable to drug addiction and long-term associated problems. For that reason I felt it was my responsibility to educate my community and more importantly my age group on the severity of drug usage.

A dear friend of a Fontbonne community member was able to share his own story and experiences to help educate my senior class.

A man by the name of Pastor Kurt beautifully spoke to the girls about his journey to recovery and discovering faith along the road to sobriety.
