Duchesne River Basin
The Duchesne River Basin is comprised of both the Duchesne and Strawberry HUC-8 basins. This location was chosen as the target of the proof-of-concept for the UCRAF-DST, and therefore the Diversion-Runoff Calculator, primarily for the following three reasons: the availability of streamflow data on major tributaries, the existence of a RiverWare© model for a large portion of the basin, and the significant usage of water for both municipal (Strawberry Aqueduct and Collection System) and irrigation purposes.
For simplicity, many of the geospatial datasets used in the Depletion-Runoff Calculator are converted to a raster format. Each raster has the exact same cell size and bounds. For the Duchesne River Basin an EPSG: 4269 (NAD83) projection is used with the following cell size and bounds:
● Cell Size: 9.2593e-05 degrees
● Left boundary: -111.314907408°
● Bottom boundary: 39.867500001°
● Right boundary: -109.620185186°
● Top boundary: 40.834629630°
The Duchesne and Strawberry HUC-8 basins (combined referred to as the Duchesne River Basin; red outline) will be the location of the initial proof of concept. Also shown are HUC-8 level basins (black outlines) within the CRB in Utah to be modeled under future proposals.
