GRIT

DEMONSTRATE IT

Congratulations! You're ready to demonstrate your GRIT skills. Before you get started, be sure you've completed the GRIT KNOWLEDGE-BUILDERS and CHECK UNDERSTANDING quiz.

Please watch the instructional video first. Written instructions are also provided below. If you need support, email Mrs. Marcotte

You may choose to demonstrate your skills in a variety of ways. Choose one that works best for you, or combine them! The goal is to provide evidence that you have GRIT.

Your evidence submission must cover your growth (a description of "before" and "now" works well), how you developed the skill, and what you realized and/or learned along the way. This is a personal reflection.

You must cover a minimum of two of the three GRIT performance indicators. If you can provide sufficient evidence of all three performance indicators you may be eligible for a distinction badge in this area!

Options for presenting your evidence:

  • Written reflection. CLICK HERE for a template and more information.

  • Video presentation. CLICK HERE for more information.

  • Audio presentation. CLICK HERE for more information.

  • Portfolio entry. Talk with your instructor or use the format expected in your program.

  • Other idea? Please email Mrs. Marcotte or talk with your instructor.

Required supplements:

  • Verification from an employer, supervisor, teacher, mentor, coach, or other adult qualified to verify that you have these skills. (Must be a non-family member). Verification Form (coming soon)

  • A minimum of two artifacts supporting your skill. CLICK HERE for more about what qualifies as an artifact.

Check in with your instructor to confirm how they want you to submit your evidence. Compiling documents and files into a folder on GoogleDrive and sharing it with your instructor is always an option.

Students are eligible for the CHCC Employability Card when they have an approved body of evidence for a minimum of two of the performance indicators in each of the six core employability areas (Self-Direction, Dependability, Communication, Problem-Solving, Teamwork, Attitude), have completed a mock interview, and have a current resume. The final decision to award the Employability Card will be made by the program instructor and CHCC Director, Mr. Demar. Distinction badges may be earned by demonstrating skills in Leadership and/or Grit (advanced skills) or by demonstrating skills in three performance indicators for any of the core areas.
