Introduction to the counselor- students will get a chance to know their counselor and the role she plays at TCES
Friendship-students will review and learn how to make and keep friends
Academic success- students will learn about strategies they can use to help them be successful this year
Bullying/No Place For Hate- students will learn about No Place For Hate and sign the pledge (see below for more information). Students will learn the definition of bullying and how they can stop bullying
Conflict/resolution- students will learn important strategies they can use to help solve conflicts when they arise
Personal safety and Erin's Law- Students will learn about keeping themselves and their bodies safe.
Mindfulness- Students will learn what mindfulness is, how it can help them and practice some mindfulness exercises

Gratitude- students will learn the practice of showing gratitude
Anxiety/worry- students will learn about anxiety and coping skills to use when they feel worried or stressed
Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset- students will learn how a Growth Mindset can help them to achieve their goals.
Goal setting- students will set a SMART (specific, measurable, attainable and time specific) goal.
Internet safety- students will review rules to help keep them safe on line. We will also go over proper etiquette for when they are on line.
Self control- students will learn how they can work on self control especially if they are feeling strong emotions
Kindness- in preparation to Random Acts of Kindness Week, we will be doing a kindness lesson. Students will be creating a special project for the school's kindness tree.
Diversity- students will learn the importance of accepting all. April is Diversity Awareness Month!
Careers- students will explore careers and start to think about what they might want to do when they get older. TCES will have a Virtual Career Day this spring! Stay tuned for more information.
Test Prep- students will learn how to do their best on both classroom and state assessments.
Resiliency- students will learn how to "bounce back" from difficult situations.
Empathy- students will learn the importance of "walking in someone else's shoes." Students will also learn how to recognize when someone may need help.
Self-Esteem- students will focus on all the positive attributes they possess.
Self-Esteem part 2- We want to make sure we finish up the year strong and feeling good!
Summer Bucket List- students will create a "bucket list" of activities they want to complete this summer
End of the year reflection- students will do a fun activity to reflect on all the fun times they had this year.
End of the year reflection part 2- fifth grade students will start preparing for middle school.
