School Counselor Role

Some of What School Counselors Do:

• Counselors work with ALL students.

• Teach Core Curriculum lessons in every classroom.

• Facilitate small group counseling sessions to students as needed.

• Offer short-term, solution-focused individual counseling sessions to students as needed.

• Consult and collaborate with parents and teachers to help students achieve success.

• Provide information about community resources for families.

• Are an integral part of multi-tiered intervention approach for students via classroom guidance, small group intervention, and individual counseling.
