RULER Timeline

Year 1 | 2021-2022

Focus on teaching the Core Curriculum:

  • Teach the introductory lesson of each of the six RULER units.

  • Regularly incorporate Core Routines into the classroom environment

  • Teach 4 Feeling Word Units (1 from each quadrant)

Goals:

  • Explicitly teach RULER tools (classroom charters, mood meters, meta moments, and blueprints) using the RULER unit-introductory lesson only.

  • Regularly practice Core Routines in the classroom to practice using the RULER tools in action.

  • Acquire one new emotional vocabulary word from each quadrant of the Mood Meter.

Year 2 | 2022-2023

Focus on expanding the Core Curriculum:

  • Teach the introductory and intermediate lessons of each of the six RULER units.

  • Regularly incorporate Core Routines into the classroom environment

  • Teach 8 Feeling Word Units (2 from each quadrant)

Goals:

  • Explicitly teach and further explore the RULER tools (classroom charters, mood meters, meta moments, and blueprints) using the RULER units.

  • Regularly practice Core Routines in the classroom to practice using the RULER tools in action.

  • Acquire two new emotional vocabulary words from each quadrant of the Mood Meter

Year 3 | 2023-2024

Focus on expanding the Core Curriculum:

  • Teach the introductory, intermediate, and performance task lessons of each of the six RULER units.

  • Regularly incorporate Core Routines into the classroom environment

  • Teach 12 Feeling Word Units (3 from each quadrant)

Goals:

  • Explicitly teach, explore, and use the RULER tools in the school and home environment. .(classroom charters, mood meters, meta moments, and blueprints) using the entire RULER unit.

  • Regularly practice Core Routines in the classroom to practice using the RULER tools in action.

  • Acquire three new emotional vocabulary words from each quadrant of the Mood Meter
