Students are learning about the different tools, tech and non-tech, that people use in their every day lives. Computational thinking skills of Pattern Recognition helped students groupĀ the tools.Ā
First Grade students are focused on keyboarding and learning where the letters are on a keyboard.Ā
Standard 4: Demonstrate effective keyboarding skills on a computing device. The student will: 1.DL.4.1Ā Locate and use letter and number keys. Demonstrate the location of the home row keys. 1.DL.4.2Ā 1.DL.4.3Ā Develop proper keyboarding technique when keying letters and numbers (e.g., use both hands; utilize proper finger placement on home row keys; use letter and number keys).Ā
Students continue to learn about the different apps and their uses in Google.Ā
Standard 1: Use software applications to create an authentic product. 2.CS.2.2Ā Recognize software that controls computing devices (e.g., use an application to draw on the screen; use software to write a story or control robots). 2.CS.2.3Ā Use appropriate hardware and software to complete a given task.Ā
Students began a Unit on Computational Thinking Skills defined as PRADA. Students had to break down : Pattern Recognition, Abstraction, Decomposition, and Algorithms through several different tasks.Ā
The student will: 3.AP.4.1Ā Use picture directions to design a series of steps to complete a simple task. 3.AP.4.2Ā Test a series of directions to successfully complete a simple task.Ā
Students created a Stop Motion Animation of a Roller Coaster traveling around the Computer LabĀ to reinforce their lessons on Force & Motion. Students modeled their project after the Red Ball Challenge.Ā
Standard 3: Explore how tasks can be decomposed into simple tasks and simple tasks can be composed to form complex tasks.Ā
Students learned how to code Microbits to make a scorekeeper. They also learned how to play finger football!šš
Standard 4: Develop a program to express an idea or address a problem. The student will: 5.AP.4.1Ā Use a visual language to design and test a program that solves a simple task (e.g., online coding activity).Ā
