The camouflage utility uniform is a work uniform which is not authorized for wear on leave or liberty (out in town). It is a loose fitting comfortable uniform. Uniform is a 30% grade. Cadets will wear their uniform ALL DAY and TO EVERY CLASS on uniform days. Cadets found to be out of uniform AT ANY TIME on uniform day will receive a ZERO for that day’s uniform inspection.
When wearing the utility uniform without the camouflage coat (blouse), the uniform is referred to as “Boots and Ute’s.” When in Boots and Ute’s, the cover is not worn and therefore Marines and Cadets do not salute. Boots and Ute’s may only be worn when prescribed by the Senior Marine Instructor (SMI) or Marine Instructor (MI).
During the time of year when sleeves are prescribed to be rolled, sleeves will be rolled to a point at least two (2) inches above the elbow. Sleeve rolls should be approximately three (3) inches wide (about four fingers).
All Irish Pennants (loose threads) should be clipped from the utility uniform to include the cover, belt and boots.
A dry wooden or plastic scrub brush with hot, soapy water should be utilized to clean the boots. To dry the boots, leave them in the sun. Boots will be bloused between the first and second eyelets. Socks and boot-bands must be worn.
The web belt is worn by MCJROTC cadets with the utility uniform. When worn properly, the belt tip will extend two (2) to four (4) inches past the buckle.
Male hair will start at a length of zero (0) around the ears and back of the head, and then evenly graduate to a length of not more than three (3) inches on the top of the head. Female hair must be cut or worn so that it does not extend down past the bottom edge of the uniform collar.
Male cadets may not wear jewelry (to include gauges and rubber wrist bands), or make-up in uniform. Female cadets may wear conservative make-up and clear nail polish only in the utility uniform. One single silver or gold stud earring may be worn in the dress or service uniforms, but NOT in the utility uniform.
