Hello! I’m Bradley Wagner, the GTT teacher at BTMS. I have been teaching since 2005. I have been the Gateway to Tech teacher here at Banks since 2017. I have taught both elementary and middle school. I was asked if I would consider transitioning to Gateway, and I have never looked back. I enjoy the units we explore and helping the students gain confidence in making mistakes. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn from what didn’t work the day before.
Learning to work together to solve a common problem is a life skill that will be needed for years to come.
Hi, my name is Jon Mahon and I teach GTT at Forest Creek Middle School. I began my teaching career in New Jersey for 4 years and now am beginning my 11th year in the Fort Mill School District. When I was in school I really enjoyed my engineering classes and it’s great to see my students have similar experiences. Teaching GTT allows me to share the excitement of solving real-world problems using critical thinking and creativity!
Hello! I'm Karla Dixon, the GTT teacher at FMMS.
When I was in school, I took a lot of engineering and CTE classes—they were what truly made my school experience special! I loved hands-on projects and problem-solving, and they sparked my passion for design and innovation.I have been teaching for eight years, the last four of which have been in GTT. My goal is to show middle school students that engineering is all around us and that they already have the skills they need to be amazing innovators. I'm looking forward to another fantastic year of building, designing, and creating together!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions at dixonkh@fortmillschools.org
Hello! I’m Alison Coyne, the GTT teacher at GHMS. This is my 24th year of teaching, my 3rd as a GTT teacher. I transitioned from teaching Science after twenty-one years because I love the opportunities the GTT classroom presents to students. It is very rewarding to watch students work through the engineer design process to solve real-problems, often with a wide variety of successful solutions. I always look forward to seeing the ideas and creations of my students!
Hello, my name is Jodi Davenport. This is my 29th year in teaching and my 26th year in FMSD and I am so excited to be moving to the GTT position this year. I am originally from Asheville, NC and received my BFA from UGA and my BS in Education from App State! When I am not in my classroom, you can find me spending time with my family, my new granddaughter Finley, grandson Adler and my puppy Ozzy. I love the beach, all things water and doing home improvements and crafts.
This is my 21st year in education, my 17th at Springfield Middle School, and my 12th teaching Gateway to Technology (GTT). I earned a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an M.A.T. from Sierra Nevada College.
Throughout my career, I’ve had many jobs and hobbies, but one constant has been my belief that the best learning happens by doing. That’s what I love about the GTT program—it literally puts learning into the hands of students. Whether they are building robots, designing 3D prints, or flying drones, students have the opportunity to try, fail, improve, and ultimately succeed.
My hope is that they take this process of creativity, problem-solving, and perseverance and apply it to every aspect of their lives.
