I am currently in my ninth year as a family and consumer science educator. Prior to teaching, I received my bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Science from Winthrop and my masters of education degree in Counselor Education from Clemson University. I taught six years of Family and Consumer at the high school level, specializing in financial fitness, housing and interior design, human development, and sports nutrition. Now teaching at Banks Trail Middle School, I share my enjoyment of finance, cuinary, parenting, and other family and consumer science content with my middle schoolers.
Hello! My name is Marion Starnes. I teach Family and Consumer Science at FMMS. I’ve lived in Fort Mill for a very long time and raised my family here. My children are products of the Fort Mill school system. I started my teaching career in North Carolina as a Food and Nutrition teacher at the high school level before coming “home” to teach in the FMSD in 2020. Last year I moved to FMMS after working at SMS for 4.5 years. In Family and Consumer Science, students learn life skills that prepare them for a future of successful independent living. I know they will use what they learn in my classes when they are seeking their first jobs, finding a place to live, managing their finances, and simply living their lives. It’s nice to know I’ve been a part of their personal growth!
Hello, my name is Robin Keziah, and I teach Family and Consumer Science at Gold Hill Middle School. I have a husband and four girls. My oldest daughter is a doctor, and I have triplet daughters who are juniors in college! This is my seventh year in the FMSD at GHMS. I have previously taught in the Clover and Cherokee County School Districts, and this is my 20th year teaching. I love cooking, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
I have been teaching Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) for 17 years. I began my career in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where I taught for 15 years, and I am now in my second year with Fort Mill Schools. Throughout my teaching journey, I have loved helping students build practical life skills, develop creativity, and discover interests that they can carry with them into their future careers and personal lives. FACS has always been a passion of mine because it allows me to prepare students not only for academic success but also for the real world.
Outside of the classroom, my greatest joy is my family. I am blessed to be raising my 2-year-old grandson, who keeps me busy and brings so much happiness to my life. In my free time, I enjoy sewing, bowling, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. I also love competitive dancing and use my creativity to design and make costumes for my god sister’s dance company. These hobbies allow me to relax, express myself, and continue learning new things—values I hope to instill in my students as well.
Teaching FACS has been a truly rewarding career, and I am committed to creating a positive, supportive environment where my students can grow, gain confidence, and learn skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
