Edmonton Trip

Grade 6 Edmonton Trip

Each year the Grade six classes embark on a three day, two night trip to Edmonton. This year will be no different! All students are able to join us on our adventure this year. We travel by Diversified bus (with WiFi and movies!), visit the West Edmonton Mall Water Park, explore the Royal Alberta Museum, tour and experience our government in action at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, and end things off with some scientific investigation at the Telus World of Science.

You can follow our journey by following us on Twitter, or Instagram @MrRutsClass or by connecting with our dedicated hashtag #CGEdTrip

Where?

We will be taking a (WiFi and video equipped) Diversified Buses on the 450km trek to Edmonton. Where we will be staying at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Edmonton. Students will be staying in rooms of 3 or 4 students. They will be able to choose at least one of their room mates. We do our very best to ensure all students are as comfortable as possible with their rooming situations.

Can Every Student Come?

Students are expected to display exemplary behavior throughout the year. As teachers, we need to be able to fully trust in them in order to take them on this trip with us. Behavior of students will be tracked and evaluated throughout the year and we will notify parents if we feel that any students are in jeopardy of losing the privilege. Students who are removed from the trip will not be able to have a refund of their money, due to the fact that the money will already have been used to cover expenses of the trip.

Can Parents Come?

We will be requiring some parent volunteers for the trip. Volunteers will be chosen based on the needs of students. Please let your child's teacher know, and they will put you on the list. Parents who are chosen will need to have a criminal record check done before hand.

How Much?

The cost of the trip for students is approximately $400. This will depends on the amount of students attending and the change in rates of places we will visit. Parents will be given the option to pay by cash, debit or credit card). This year, all students will have to pay the free. If the cost holds students back from attending the trip, alternative arrangements can be made (this will involve volunteering time).

The price of the trip includes Diversified bus to, from and around Edmonton, Hotel for two nights, entrance to waterpark and the Telus World of Science exhibits/Educational Session and all food except for lunch at the West Ed Mall Food court the first day.

We also purchase ‘Grad Shirts’ for the entire grade 6 class.
