Dolch Words

Students are expected to master the 40 Pre-Primer Dolch words before entering Grade One. In class, we will cover two to three words a week. I strongly recommend you also review the words at home as well, you can place them on the fridge the wall and review the words covered to date on a daily basis. You can also look for the words in a book prior to reading it, children seem to really enjoy the fact that they are able to pick out a familiar word in a book.

It is always a good idea to cover the same words at home that we are doing in class as this will help avoid any confusion. The words that are being covered in class will be highlighted on the monthly calendar.

Please allow for FUN when reviewing these words. Memory games/flashcards are a great game to begin with. As well you can ask your child to find these words in the book you are reading at bedtime.
