Agritourism Facility Information SubmissionÂ
Agritourism Facility Information SubmissionÂ
The Fire Marshals Association of West Virginia (FMAWV) is gathering information about agritourism structures and venues located throughout the state. This effort is intended to help identify facilities where members of the public may be gathering inside agricultural buildings for events, activities, or entertainment.
Many agritourism venues operate in barns or other agricultural structures that have been adapted for public use. These locations may host activities such as weddings, festivals, concerts, seasonal attractions, haunted attractions, or other public events.
Fire departments and first responders often encounter these venues within their response areas, yet there is currently no single statewide resource identifying where many of these facilities are located or what types of activities occur within them.
Information submitted through this form will assist the FMAWV in identifying potential fire and life safety concerns such as limited fire department access, large occupant loads, enclosed assembly activities within agricultural buildings that may be hazardous to the health, safety, and welfare of the public, hazardous electrical or cooking setups, and other dangers that could impact emergency operations.
Fire departments, emergency responders, and individuals with knowledge of these facilities are encouraged to submit as much information as they are able. Partial information is acceptable. Even basic details about a location can be helpful in building a clearer understanding of where these venues exist and the types of activities taking place.
Thank you for assisting in this effort to improve situational awareness and support the safety of the public and responding emergency personnel across West Virginia.
