Fear #1: I will procrastinate and never finish my work.
Above are some tips from Students for Students on how to complete your work without having a brain overload or never finishing your work.
Fear #2: Teachers will not be helpful.
Teachers in Florida Virtual High School are ten times more helpful than the teachers in Brick-and-Mortar schools. Teachers here in Florida Virtual High School have Office Hours so that they can help you. Not only that but they provide you with their number so that you can text or call them and they will be there to help you. If you need it, the teacher will be there to support you and make sure that you can finish AND understand the work that you completed. But, you must make sure that you schedule a time because teachers can get really busy especially around DBA time!
Fear #3: Lack of Human Interaction
Switching over to Virtual School can definitely cause someone to be scared because they think that they won't be able to talk to anyone anymore. However, we have many different ways to combat that:
Monthly socials: Student Government hosts Monthly Socials in which there is a theme and students can log on and participate in the different activities and see the presentation.
Spirit Weeks: Red Ribbon Week - This is the week where Student Government hosts meetings every day of the week and the presentations are based on a specific theme. There will be a padlet where every student in FVHS can come and show how they “Say No to Drugs!” Firebird Week is another week where the Student Government hosts meetings everyday of the week based on certain themes. There is a padlet in which the students in FVHS come and show their SCHOOL SPIRIT!
Live Lessons: Teachers and Students are interactive during Live Lessons. There are questions that the teacher asks and those that want to participate have the opportunity to do so. If the students have any questions, either the teacher or the students will answer them in the chat.
Clubs: There are many different clubs in FVHS that promote the communication of the different students. If you are interested in being a Student Body Leader, Student Government is the place for you! If you are interested in Debating, Debate Club is for you! There is a club for everyone and that can help with the communication of everyone in FVHS.
