If students are working towards obtaining a Florida Learner’s License, then the course has some additional benefits. By successfully completing the Driver Education course at Florida Virtual School students will:
Students with a Florida learner’s or operator’s license are still encouraged to take Driver Education at FLVS and will earn .5 of a high school credit upon course completion. Licensed students will still need to take the final exam to complete the course, but can skip the general knowledge test for licensing that will be offered via a message to the student's FLVS main message box upon completion of the course. Students can print a copy of the unofficial transcript from the student records section of www.FLVS.net once the course is complete to provide to insurance companies as proof of completion. Some insurance companies provide a discount for completing a Driver Education Course, others do not. Students and families will want to check with your insurance provider to obtain more information on possible discounts. If your insurance company requires a certificate of completion, let your instructor know and he or she will create one for you.
