Learning Lab Welcome Letter
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year! Your student is currently enrolled in a recovery course for one class period a day in the Pepperell High School Learning Lab. Myself, Mr. Mowery, along with Mrs. Rogers will be assisting your student to recover credits they previously failed in order to move them forward to the ultimate goal of graduation. The Learning Lab offers recovery courses in all subjects using the online Edgenuity software platform. The courses in Edgenuity meet all Georgia Department of Education standards and have been further audited by Floyd County educators to meet local expectations. It is possible to recover multiple courses in a single semester only if your student works hard and is dedicated everyday.
Enrollment in recovery courses via the Learning Lab at Pepperell High School is a second-chance education opportunity and a privilege. Your student must abide by all the expectations of the Learning Lab to maintain their enrollment and be successful.
Expectations for success in the Learning Lab:
Show up - regular, daily attendance is a must to stay on pace and pass.
Show up on time - working for the entire 50 minute class period is key for success. We will absolutely abide by the PHS tardy policy .
Work while you are here - Students will need to work diligently in Edgenuity while in the learning lab. We have created and will maintain an environment free of all distractions - NO PHONES (PHS/ Floyd County policy), NO EARBUD HEADPHONES, NO HEADS DOWN/SLEEPING, NO DISRUPTING OTHERS.
You will be receiving an email from Edgenuity if you entered an email address when registering your student. You will then begin to receive weekly progress emails from Edgenuity to help monitor your student’s recovery progress with grades and course completion. There will be no grade in PowerSchool for the course period until your student has completed all of the requirements for the course. If you wish to have constant access through Edgenuity, please email me and I will set up your account.
