Science
Our science topics will align with our reading curriculum. Students will be reading about different 2nd grade science topics with Mrs. Wimpee in their Wonders reading books (while learning ELA skills), and then they will explore the topics more in depth with me for an investigative and hands-on experience.
Science Safety
Students will learn how to be safe in a science lab/classroom. This will help students be ready for more advanced experiments when they get older.
Sun, Moon, & Stars
Students will be exploring our sun, moon, & star systems and how they interact with one another. Students will investigate the patterns this system makes
Matter
Students will be exploring and describing the different characteristics of solids, liquids, and gases. Students will be able to identify objects based on these characteristics.
Forces
Students will describe the difference between a push and a pull. They will be able to investigate different tools that will help an object speed up, slow down, or even stop completely.
Changes to our Environment
Students will observe and research different reasons why the environment around us changes. We will talk about the different seasons and how they can impact our homes, plants, and animals.
Life Cycles
Students will be researching different animals to explore their life cycles. Students will learn that every living thing has a life cycle and how it grows through each stage of its life.
