Eureka Math (A Story of Units)
We will be using Eureka Math as our main math curriculum. This curriculum has fluency, problem sets, exit tickets, and homework pages. Each night students will have homework practicing the same skill learned from that day.
Homework: Students are responsible for keeping up with their homework book when they receive it. There will also be a page stapled to their reading homework. All 4 nights of HW (Monday-Thursday) will be due by Friday. Students will earn Dragon Dollars for each completed and on time page that is turned in.
Missing / Make-Up Work: All work is expected to be completed! Most exit tickets can be made up in class the next day. If it is not completed in a timely manner, then students may miss a fun activity in order to complete the work

MAP Testing and Enrichment: Students will take the MAP test 3 times this year. Each time they take it, they will hopefully grow each time to meet 2nd grade expectations by the end of the year. To help foster this growth, homework based on their RIT band score will be sent home, and we will work in small groups to help meet your child's goals.
A lot of times students may score very high but only grow in small increments. My job is to make sure that they are growing to their full potential. So this may mean that towards the second half of the year, we may start extending our math skills and start practicing FOUNDATIONAL 3rd and 4th grade skills.
