Hello! My name is Mrs. Michelle Sanders and this is my 18th year at Garden Lakes Elementary where I happily teach 3rd grade ELA and Writing. I was named both Garden Lakes Teacher of the Year and Floyd County Schools' Teacher of the Year in 2011.
I graduated with honors in 2002 from Pepperell High School. I received an Associate of Science and an Associate of Art Degree from Georgia Highlands College. My undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education was earned from the University of West Georgia in 2008. I received my Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia in 2010. I completed my Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Lincoln Memorial University in 2011. I hold a Reading and Gifted Endorsement and I am a Level 1 Certified Google Educator. I am LETRS certified for literacy and I am currently enrolled in our district's ESOL endorsement program. I plan to complete a graduate degree add-on in leadership in the near future.
I have a passion for teaching and learning that drives the love for what I do. Building relationships, helping children find their joy in their talents and abilities, and watching them thrive is at the heart of why I teach. Every child is a gift. Every child is capable of learning in their own unique way. Having the opportunity to be a small part of their life's journey is the greatest reward.
The fastest way to get in touch with me is by E-mail. Your child's agenda is also great! We have a weekly newsletter that goes home every Monday! It is also linked on this website. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns. It is an honor teaching my students and working together with their families in order to have an incredible and successful year!
