MONTANA DIGITAL ACADEMY (MTDA)
The Montana Digital Academy, or MTDA, is an online program for high school students across Montana. It offers a variety of core and elective courses for high school and college credit. The classes are facilitated by MT-certified teachers from the University of Montana, Missoula, with local FCHS teacher support where available.
MTDA provides an opportunity for students to take online classes. The cost for MTDA courses are: Cost Sharing Information
$123 per semester enrollment for original credit
$61.50 per quarter enrollment for credit recovery
Students need to be self-motivated and able to work independently to complete course assignments and requirements. The MTDA academic calendar is similar but not precisely aligned with the FCHS academic calendar. Therefore, students wishing to take MTDA courses must know and abide by enrollment/drop deadlines and course start/end dates set by MTDA. It is highly advised for 9th graders to not enroll in online classes due to the level and demand of most coursework.
WHAT COURSES WILL MTDA BE OFFERING FOR FALL 2024?
Depending on FCHS staffing, MTDA classes may be offered in 2024- 2025. Each MTDA course requires a certified FHCS teacher to provide local support for students enrolled in it. Although we hope to have funding for this position in the High School 2024-2025 schedule, it is yet to be determined. If you are interested in taking an MTDA class, please review this information, and you may proceed with the request.

Parents and students will receive an email on August 22, 2024, with a notification about the MTDA process for requests outlined (below). The initial course request deadline for the Fall semester is August 28th, 2024, and the late enrollment deadline is September 6th, 2024.
Students may take MTDA classes under the following circumstances:
1) To take a course not offered at FCHS 2) To obtain additional credits needed for graduation requirements 3) To resolve a scheduling conflict 4) To make up a failed FCHS class through MTDA's credit recovery program. Students wishing to complete an MTDA course must complete the following steps:
1) Complete the MTDA Entrance Counseling Form
2) Submit the Counseling form to Ms. Bristow, High School Counselor
3) Upon approval, payment for courses is required before registration.
4) The MTDA class period will be assigned to your schedule once the registration is complete.
Students take MTDA courses within a regularly scheduled class period. However, computer access outside FCHS is necessary as classes often require work to be completed outside school. Students should read and fully understand the course description on the MTDA webpage for the class they wish to sign up for and be able to obtain any required supplies listed there.
MTDA FAQ’s
