The legend tells that writers Gogarty and Moore, often drunk after nights at the pub, would mistake each other's adjacent houses. To avoid confusion, Moore painted his door bright green, but Gogarty, either out of spite or humor, painted his own door red. This act sparked the tradition of colorful doors in Dublin, which has now become a distinctive symbol of the city.
When I walk down the street I see so many of them.
