Misconduct on the roads will not be tolerated. Remember who you are and who you represent.
Always report any unusual occurrences upon your return to the track.
Always check in with your event coach when you return from the run.
Throwing Ring and Sector Expectations and Procedures
Before any discus can be thrown all sector signage should be in place around the sector.
No thrower should make a throw without first receiving verbal permission from a coach to proceed to throw.
When retrieving a thrown implement a thrower should follow the below procedures:
Walk backward (facing the ring) well outside of the sector and sector signage.
Keep their eyes on the ring at all times regardless if there is an athlete in the ring or not.
Do not enter the sector until well (~50 ft-discus, ~10ft-shot) past the throwing distance of the current rotation of throwers and then walk forward to receive the implement.
When throwing, a student-athlete should follow the following procedures:
Check the sector for any other student-athletes. If there are other student-athletes in the sector they should not enter the ring. Once the sector is clear they can enter the ring.
Before preparing the throw they should check the sector again for any other student-athletes, and then proceed to ask the coach for permission to throw.
Once a coach grants permission then the athlete can proceed to throw as they would for competition.
Throwing Sector Expectations: All Athletes
At all track and field practices and meets athletes should always be aware of where the throwing rings and sectors are located.
At no point should any non-throwing athlete enter or be near the throwing sector or throwing rings
All Runners must run in the correct direction on the track so they always are facing the discus ring on the left sector line, on the West 100m side you are in the clear, the East 100m side is where you have to pay extra attention to.
