"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."
About the Project: The idea came from the school community to transform the southeast lawn of Fletcher Academy into a school garden and outdoor classroom to promote academic achievement, hands-on science learning and community development.
It's been a long road to bring those ideas to fruition, but after a few years, the Fletcher School Garden has come to life! Fletcher PTSA teamed up with the school district to prepare a wonderful blank slate and then leaned on many volunteers from the school community to bring this project to fruition.
Special thanks to Liz and Eloy Figueroa of Garden Pros for helping PTSA get a great deal on plants. Thanks to everyone who shared their vision and worked to give this incredible opportunity to the Fletcher school community.
Fletcher Academy was awarded $5000 in materials from the Captain Planet Learning Grant
Fletcher PTSA has procured Chinese Magnolias, Plumeria, Fruitless Mulberry and Hong Kong Orchid trees; and will install a Butterfly, California Native, Herb and Vegetable Garden.
Benches will be located in the main area to serve as an outdoor classroom and community space for the school.
