This course will develop student understandings of History, Geography, Civics, Economics, and Disciplinary Skills and Processes. We will do this primarily by examining the creation of civilizations in the eastern hemisphere and the cultural, religious, economic, and political structures that developed in them. Students will learn disciplinary skills and processes like change and continuity over time, multiple perspectives, using and understanding sources, and cause and effect.
Intro to Theatre Arts

This course is an introductory study of various aspects of theatre. Through active participation in acting games and performances, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students will learn the nature and structure of theatre and experience first-hand the discipline and confidence needed to perform on the stage. Units of study will include a history of theatre, improvisation, physical acting/movement, characterization scene work, and play production. An invitational performance will be produced toward the end of each semester.
Writing for Performance

Course Description: Writers. The shy, unsung heroes of the performing arts. Where do they come from? They come from writing classes like this one. Students will explore the behind-the-scenes creative process of writing lyrics, screenplays, stage plays, and more! Their work will be performed by other performing arts classes throughout the year, allowing the students to collaborate across grade levels and disciplines. Bring your ideas to life! Learn the craft!
