STEM working groups

Every member of the FISSTC is expected to contribute to the groups aims. To achieve this members take an active role in a research group as well as a working group running a STEM activity.

2. Pi Day - Einsteins birthday, PI day on March 14th with Pi day activities and possibly a guest speaker for a lunchtime activity.

3. Mars & Red Planet days - Plan and run a lunchtime online session for Red Planet Day in the auditorium. (28th November) - currently planning the event with further details

5. FISSTC & Girl Up - Collaboration with Girl Up for a ‘Women in STEM’ lunchtime activity, or a set of short lunchtime activities.

7. Managing the micro-loans developed as part of the FIS House System

Possible ideas and past events

1. STEM Slam at FIS, each student that enters has 5 mins to wow the audience with a fascinating topic.

2. Collaboration with CWI to set a STEM challenge. Teams would require one member of each group as a minimum entry requirement.

3. Plan and run two STEM based team building challenges as part of the grade 6-8 intramural competitions.

4. Collaboration with Kalahari - create teaching resources/aids
