Students need to make the best plans for their future after Y11. This involves one of three routes - Academic Study, Vocational Study or Apprenticeships.
Academic Study - Primarily A-Levels in traditional subjects, such as English, Maths, Sciences, Humanities etc.
Vocational Study - BTECs and T-Levels in subjects such as Health & Social Care, ICT, Engineering etc.
Apprenticeships - Working in a real workplace, with part time learning in that work sector to gain qualifications while gaining workplace experience.
We understand the importance of preparing our young people for the world of work. Our aim is to ensure that all students have a clear idea of the changing world of employment and the skills and qualities they will need, along with their qualifications, to succeed within it.
We are committed to ensuring that all Y10 students have the opportunity take part in at least one Work Experience placement during Year 10. These placements could be face-to-face or online 'virtual' placements due to Covid-19.
In recent years we have partnered with many organisations and been able to take students to international engineering companies, legal firms, the Houses of Parliament and tech companies amongst others. We have also taken many students to events and tours at a range of universities, including Oxford & Cambridge.
If you are interested in working in partnership with us or keen to offer opportunities to our students or academy, please contact our Careers Leader.
As Firth Park Academy does not have the option of staying on for post-16 qualifications, students will need to consider applying to another school for sixth form, college or an apprenticeship. It is important that our students give themselves enough time to think about this, it is never too early to start to think about your options and chosen career path.
