Vision
Here at Firth Park Academy, we are dedicated to helping our students to achieve remarkable futures and their true potential. We aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to meet the ever changing demands of the world of work.
Our Career’s programme runs from Year 7 to Year 11 and alongside our Academic Mentoring curriculum also provides a wide array of experiences and opportunities. This includes: 1-1 careers interviews, Year 10 work experience, college visits in KS4 and visits to universities across the UK like Oxford, Sheffield and Manchester.
We are committed to ensuring our offer to students remains current and therefore maximise the opportunity to participate in annual and one-off experiences in close partnership with the AET, our local colleges and the Careers and Enterprise Company.
Many students may leave school unsure of their exact career path; however they will leave knowing the following:
Strengths and weaknesses.
How to use a range of up to date resources to help research suitable careers, ideas and decision making.
Help with interpreting career information.
One to one support to help explore career ideas and gain confidence.
Ongoing sessions to improve skills e.g. CV and cover writing, interview techniques and what to do next.
We endeavour to follow the CDI Framework (2020), and all additional guidance from the Department of Education and Ofsted. We believe that every student should be prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life and that this is an important element of the curriculum.
Alongside the support of our Careers Leader, parents/carers have a key responsibility to support their child. We endeavour to support you as a parent/carer to have an active role in exploring options and choices, as this will impact on the rest of your child’s life.
We are enthusiastic to engage with businesses and organisations to enhance our careers education programme for our students.
