Job Search

Where do I look to find a job?

There are a lot of answers to that question, and it often depends on what kind of job you want. Here are some suggestions:

  • Start with Google. No, seriously, type the job you want into Google, and see what you get.

  • You can try global job search websites like Indeed and Monster. You can filter by location, salary, industry, etc.

  • If you are interested in working in a particular location, check the Chamber of Commerce website for that area. Here is the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce jobs page.

  • If you have a company where you want to work, check their website. See what's posted. Check often.

  • Some fields have professional organizations that help members to find jobs in the field. Often members of the organization will share openings at their employer with other members of the organization. (We hear all the time about TRIO professional jobs posted around the country.) When you're ready to start looking for work in your field, join your professional organization, and get the insider advantage.

  • Set up an appointment with your TRIO SSS Coach or Career Coach, and get some personal advice on job searches.
