Hello Parents,
I hope you are all staying warm and healthy!
We are geared up for a busy week!
*We begin new units in Math and the ELA Skills Strand this week. We begin exploring the excitement of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, as well as Presidents' Day!
*In the ELA Knowledge Strand, we will wrap up our unit on Ancient Egypt. Next week we will begin our study of the three major world religions.
*Students have worked hard to write their informational paragraph on hedgehogs. We've explored how to write a strong beginning hook, use of transition words and detail sentences, and composed a concluding sentence. Informational paragraphs include so many parts! Students have been working diligently!
VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY | Thursday, February 12
*We will be decorating Valentine bags in class. Students are encouraged to bring Valentine’s from home for their classmates. They may bring their Valentines in a bag marked with their name anytime before Thursday!
*PLEASE do NOT have your child write their classmates’ names on the outside of the envelope.
*Just have them sign the Valentine card so that their friends know who the Valentine is from.
*THANKS SO MUCH! This eliminates a real traffic jam when 17 students are trying to find a specific bag!
BABY BOTTLE DRIVE | NOW OPEN!
Looking for a way to introduce "donations for a worthy cause" to your child? SMS students may bring in money to fill up our classroom baby bottle! All donations go to the Women's Resource Center. Donations are accepted through Feb. 20.
Thank you!
Remember... no school Friday, Feb. 13... and no school Monday, Feb. 16.
I hope your team wins the Super Bowl!
