Dear Parents,
Gulp...now the emotions are starting to hit hard. It's hard to believe that this is the final "weekly parent newsletter". I've so enjoyed working with each and every student in my class! They have been led by YOU...it is easy to see the ways you as parents have helped them grow this year. I thank you so much for your support and trust.
*Please see the envelope being sent home on the last day of school for a final farewell.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK
*The TEN COMMANDMENTS
These students take God's 10 Commandments very seriously! They worked hard to memorize the “official” words, and then worked to remember the “first grade version”, including motions to indicate the number of the commandment! I hope these commandments stay fresh in the minds of our children. (VIDEO will be coming!)
*Put on the ARMOR OF GOD!
Our final lesson in religion this year was based around Ephesians 6:14-17 - Put on the whole Armor of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the tricks of the Devil.
We know how ancient soldiers dressed for battle, and we know that we need to do the same. As the apostle Paul says in Ephesians, “Put on the whole armor SO THAT YOU WILL be able to stand”…he doesn't say, “Put on the armor IN CASE YOU NEED IT.” We're gonna need it!
These kids know how to get dressed every morning!
*Belt of Truth
*Breastplate of Righteousness
*Feet Fitted with the Gospel of Peace
*Shield of Faith
*Helmet of Salvation
*Sword of the Spirit
*AUTHOR and ILLUSTRATOR VISIT
WOW! We had a visit Friday from an author (who grew up in Findlay), and an illustrator (from Denver). Michael Kujawa, author, and Erin Richardson, illustrator, captivated our children by reading his first published book, The Magic Stick Box.
FOCUS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
*FIELD DAY!
Get ready, get set, GO! We are geared up for field day Monday!
Please remember to send your child with WATER, HAT, TENNIS SHOES, SUNBLOCK and a PACKED LUNCH (unless you have pre-ordered a sack lunch for your child.) Students may wear a SMS Defender shirt and comfy shorts.
*LAST DAY!
Students are dismissed from my classroom after the 10:00 mass on Wednesday!
I'll see you all on Wednesday! After a big hug from their teacher, these amazing kids will head out the door for a well-deserved vacation!
Thank you again!
Best,
Cindy
