Senior High band Lessons

Everyone in senior high band is required to attend 5 band lessons every quarter. Each lesson will be 15 minutes long. Attending 5 lessons are a part of the student's quarter and semester grade. Grading is based on showing up to lessons and giving your best effort. It is not based on your individual skill level. All musicians have different skill levels and abilities, and Mr. Sikkink is here to work with students where they are at and help them get better. Students may sign up to come individually or in a small group of 2-4 people in the same section. Mr. Sikkink is available for lessons during 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 7th hour as well as before/after school. 

Student may sign up using the link that is posted on Google Classroom or they may speak with Mr. Sikkink in person. The sign up link is also posted below. 

Junior High Band Lessons 

Junior high students will have weekly lessons at a scheduled time. They will be scheduled during their 6th hour study hall if they are not in choir, or during their 7th hour class. Junior high students are also given a grade for attending all their lessons, and their grade is also based on showing up and giving their best effort. If a junior high student needs to make up a missed band lesson, they can either go to the link posted on Google Classroom or speak with Mr. Sikkink in person. The link to sign up for make up lessons is the same as the link above.

Band Lesson Expectations 

• It is the student's responsibility to communicate with their classroom teacher if they have signed up for a lesson during their class. Study hall times are ideal, but we understand that not everyone has a study hall or maybe cannot get a ride before/after school. 

• If there is a sub in your class or it is a work day, that might be a great opportunity to see if Mr. Sikkink's schedule is available for a lesson. Check with your teacher first before leaving. You can sign up using the link on Google Classroom until the minute before it is supposed to begin. 

• If the classroom teacher says that it is not a good time to leave class, then students are expected to stay in that class. Students may sign up for a different time if the teacher would like you to stay during that hour. 

• Students should not sign up if they have a test or quiz that day. If a student does sign up and later realize there is a test or quiz, they should stay to take the test or quiz and sign up for another time. 

• Another reason to not come to a lesson that you signed up for is because you are sick. In this case, please see the nurse and you may need to go home if necessary. You can sign up for another band lesson at another time. 

• Mr. Sikkink will not be mad or upset with you if you signed up and do not come due to one of the reasons above. All you need to do is sign up for a different time, and complete two before the end of the quarter. 

• PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST WEEK OF THE QUARTER TO SIGN UP FOR ALL OF YOUR LESSONS! PLAN AHEAD!
