KMS High School Social Worker
Hi! My name is Jess Anderson, and I’m excited to serve as the high school social worker. I work with students, families, and staff to support students’ social, emotional, and overall well-being and to help make school a place where everyone feels supported.
I bring many years of experience working with teens and families in community mental health, crisis response, and school-related settings. My background includes crisis intervention, trauma‑informed care, and working closely with families and educators to help students navigate challenges and build skills that support success both in and out of school. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills. I believe that every student deserves to feel heard and to have someone in their corner.
I completed my Bachelors of Science at NDSU (go Bison!) with a psychology major and a social services emphasis. I’m currently completing my graduate studies at Capella University and I continue to build my skills through professional involvement and ongoing learning. I truly enjoy connecting with students and helping them problem-solve, manage stress, and feel more confident navigating life’s ups and downs.
Outside of school, I’m married and a mom to two sons who keep life busy and full. In my free time, I love a good cup of coffee, reading a good book, and finding new hobbies to try. I also enjoy traveling, going to concerts, and I am an avid Vikings fan. I value connection, balance, and finding moments of joy, even on busy days.
I look forward to working with students and helping create a positive, supportive school environment. Please feel free to reach out, I'm always happy to help or to simply listen.
