Classroom Lessons

September

To start the year, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade all have a Meet Ms. Rector lesson and do an activity. Kindergarteners learned about different emotions and drew a picture. 1st graders listened to "My Incredible Talking Body" while 2nd graders played a game. 

October

2nd graders learned the difference between bullying, conflict, and a mean moment. 1st graders expanded their learning on personal space. Kindergarteners learned about big deal problems vs little deal problems.

November/December

This month, Kindergarteners learned how to make friends. 1st graders learned about using movement as a coping strategy to release tension in their bodies. 2nd grade practiced using I-Messages to solve conflicts with friends. 


January

We're learning about Coping Skills this month!

Our Kindergarteners will listen to "The Choices I Make" and will go "fishing" for coping skills.

1st grade will listen to "My Magic Breath" and do a coping skills activity

2nd grade will listen to "Keeping It Cool" and do a coping skills activity

February

In honor of Kindness Week, Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade will be doing kindness activities to spread joy through the school. 

March

Kindergarten students learned about the steps to creating an I-Message and practiced as a class. 1st graders worked on creating meaningful apologies and 2nd grade learned about self-advocacy. 


April

Kindergarten and 1st grade students will learn about positive self-talk. 2nd graders are learning about self-esteem


May

Our Kindergarteners will learn 

1st grade will do an activity about "Keeping it Cool" when they have big feelings

2nd grade will learn about having a positive mindset when doing hard things

June

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will learn about summer safety!
