在步入禮敬大廳之前，就可見到面對門口右側的，是一隻大象領著四隻小象。象是佛教中高貴的代表，佛陀乘著白象入胎，所以用大象紀念佛陀的降誕人間。

Before you enter the Front Hall, you would see a group of white elephants near the entrance. The white elephant is symbolic of the Buddha's birth because according to the scriptural records, Queen Maya dreamt of a bodhisattva entering her womb on a white elephant before her conception.

Prince Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree.

In 2019, this Bodhi Tree from Nalanda University, India, was planted at this spot between Six Perfections Pagoda and Four Giving Pagoda. The trunk has five branches. From this spot, one can see the Sutra Repository when gazing upwards.

佛陀的母親摩耶夫人在藍毗尼園手持無憂樹的樹枝，生下悉達多太子。他在誕生後不久時，行走七步，舉目眺望著四方，口中說道：『天上天下，唯我獨尊。』悉達多太子在無憂樹下誕生，因此無憂樹又稱為「佛誕樹」。

Queen Maya gave birth to Prince Siddhartha while holding on to a branch of the Asoka Tree. Shortly after he was born, the prince took seven steps and declared, "I am unsurpassable in both heaven and on earth." As Prince Siddhartha was born under the Asoka Tree, it was also referred to as the Buddha's birth tree.

佛光大佛前方的本館，上方有一個主塔與四個副塔，此形制為金剛寶座式塔，象徵佛陀降魔成道。

佛光大佛是世界上最大的銅鑄坐佛。佛光大佛共用一千八百多公噸銅鐵建造，費時一年半完成，地基加佛身共有一百零八公尺，相當於一般建築的三十六層樓。2022年春節，佛館舉辦「十大展出鎮館之寶」，佛光大佛被票選為十大鎮館之寶之一。【更多介紹】

Before the Buddha was enlightened, he was challenged by the demon Mara, who asked him for a witness to attest his right to achieve it. In reply he touched the ground, asking Pṛthivi, the devi of the earth, that she witnessesed his enlightenment, which she did.

The Main Hall in front of the Big Buddha has five stupas (a central stupa, and four secondary stupas at the corners). This architectural form is referred to as the Diamond Throne Stupas, and symbolizes the Buddha's enlightenment.

The Big Buddha is currently the world largest copper-cast seated Buddha statue. It stands 108 m tall, equivalent to 36 levels. During the 2022 New Year Festival, the Big Buddha was voted as one of the Top Ten Treasures of the Buddha Museum. [More info]

According to the scriptures, when Prince Siddhartha was born, he was bathed by heavenly kings and nagas. As such, it is customary to bathe the Buddha to commemorate his birth.

「浴佛」，佛真要我們替他洗浴嗎？其實是藉外在的佛來滌洗我們的內在佛，浴佛主要是在淨浴我們的心。

However, does the Buddha require us to bathe him? Well, the practice of bathing the Buddha is a reminder for us to cleanse our own minds.

舍利，為遺骨之意。通常指佛陀的遺骨，佛陀遺體焚化後結晶而成的固體物，如佛骨、佛牙舍利等等。見佛舍利就如同見到佛陀真身，其珍貴性可說是世界級的典藏，全球佛教徒此生難得一見的國之重寶。佛牙舍利全球僅存三顆，其中一顆就在佛陀紀念館的玉佛殿，參訪必不能錯過此景點，才不虛此行。

玉佛殿供奉的是佛陀的真身舍利。此真身舍利是佛陀2,600年前進入涅槃後留在世間的珍寶，也是佛陀紀念館的其中一個鎮館之寶。

The Buddha's relic is enshrined in the Jade Buddha Shrine. This relic was left behind by the Buddha after he entered in parinirvana 2,600 years ago. It is also one of the Top Ten Treasures at the Buddha Museum.
