Fountain-Fort Carson School District Mission: “To develop generations of world class learners capable of being successful members of society by providing a positive, empowering, and safe environment where academic excellence is the desired result for all students.”
As a district, we are committed to giving all teachers the essential tools for effective instruction so that every student can reach his/her full potential in a highly competitive global economy. The Instructional Resource Center in conjunction with the district's School Effectiveness Framework provide the foundational components for effective instruction within an instructional unit (generally a unit is defined as no less than two to three weeks and no more than four to five weeks). The Fountain-Fort Carson School Effectiveness Framework contains six key standards: Standards-Based and Continuous Improvement Planning; Rigorous and Engaging Instruction; Assessment as, of and for Learning; School Culture and Environment; Social, Emotional and Behavioral Health; and Home, School, and Community Partnerships. Each standard includes both key ideas and specific indicators to support high degrees of student learning.
The Fountain-Fort Carson District 8 School Effectiveness Framework was created by school principals and district administration. In collaboration, the team reviewed and adapted information from many research-based sources related to teaching and learning. Over a six-month period, district staff collaborated on a unique Framework aligned with the district needs and values and bi-annually convene to review and revise based on current best practice and research. The Framework should be used in partnership between district and school administrators and classroom teachers to support both individual and systemic growth in effective instructional practice.
“The greatest impact on learning is the daily lived experiences of students in classrooms, and that is determined much more by how teachers teach than by what they teach.”
