Intuition is the feeling of knowing something in your heart or gut, without needing a reason. I relate intuition to many things; it can feel positive or negative. I thought it would be interesting to try to convey the feeling through paintings as it is so hard to express or describe. I chose this theme because it’s something everyone has, but not many people pay attention to. These works show the most prominent examples of intuition that come to mind for me; such as mother’s intuition, being in love, or getting a bad feeling as you approach someone.

I hope to bring people's attention to their intuition by expressing my own experiences with it. I used a lot of darker, more comforting colors to try to bring a feeling of calmness or introspectiveness throughout my pieces. I sometimes associate moods or feelings with colors, as I'm sure many people do. To me intuition feels like a deep red or indigo color, which became a common theme across many of my paintings.

The intensive program brought together a great team of developing artists who push each other to improve our work every week. The process can be stressful but it’s still fun. The critiques, the weekly sketches and redos, and long hours have led to my first conceptual series that I’m very proud of. It really pushed me conceptually and made me more seriously consider pursuing a career as an artist.
