16 May 2025. The final day of the Erasmus plus mobilities is always very intense. And today it has been very much so.
We've started with a session on adapted sports. It has been very interesting to take part in a wheel-chair obstacle race, a race using crutches or trying to run blindfolded with as guide like blind athletes do. It is amazing what Paralympic athletes can do!!
We've continued with a game exchange. The Romanian team have explained a game they play, and we have played a game called "the Chain". Then, it was time for the Italian team. They've explained the game "4 corners", and we have played. After the quick break, we've explained the Catalan games: "pica-paret" and "arranca-cues". It has been fascinating, because we all knew the games, we've realised how international they are!
After so much playing and moving, we've continued with a very different activity. We've welcomed Adnan Almousa Alfermli. He is a Syrian refugee that was shot as a boy and is on a wheelchair. He is an example that nothing is impossible, as he is now competing in marathons and breaking world records in many competitions. His experience has been truly inspiring for all of us.
In the afternoon, we've all met at the main theatre in Manresa. The 2nd graders and Erasmus plus participants have performed in the musical "FEM OPERA" a music project where students become the choir of very well-known opera arias.
Finally, time for the farewell party. We've had delicious food, our partners got their certificates, and we had tones of fun dancing! A truly fun party with all the host families and our partners!!
15 May 2025 - We've had another day full of experiences today. We've started with presentations on Catalan Traditional Culture: Correfoc, traditional Dancing, Castellers (human towers), etc. We've learned a lot about how traditions can help everyone more included in the community.
Later, we've walked to the home of Manresa's Giants. The representatives of the local organisation that looks after the Giants and that parades them on the streets have told us about the history of the giants in this town, and the importance of the characters that they represent. We all had the opportunity to try to lift and dance, with the smaller characters (the giants are very heavy!!). It has been a really hands-on experience!!
After the giants, we've returned to school, and we had some time to work on our Alphabet Photo Album. (An example here)
We had lunch in the school dining room and after that, 3rd grade students of FEDAC Manresa have taught us how to dance Sardana (the Catalan Circle Dance), Bastoners (the Catalan Stick Dance) and how to Dance with the Giants (this time the school Giants, which aren't as big as the town's ones.
14 May 2025 - Today we've travelled to Barcelona in the bus. We've met at 8 am at school, and we have arrived in Barcelona just before 10. We've had an Adventure Quest in the city. In the three teams and using an App, we had a set of Missions all around Barcelona's old town, to learn about its history and most important landmarks. The more missions we could accomplish, the more points the teams could get. We used the App to provide evidence of all our accomplished mission. It was great fun! Barcelona is a beautiful city, and it was really amusing to learn about it through an adventure quest! (See link)
All teams met at the Maremagnum Marina and we had lunch. After some free time in the afternoon, we returned to Manresa on the bus. We were very tired from all the walking, but happy with all the things we've learned about the city.
13 May 2025 - We've started super early. At 8 am, we've met at the train station to go to Montserrat. We've stopped at Monistrol to get the cog-wheel train up to the Monastery. We've had a great morning, the mountain is magic and the views from the top stunning. We've learned a lot about the mountain, about its history and its peculiar geologic past playing a game. Later we've walked to the Cross of Sant Miquel. The views from there are spectacular.
We've returned to the school at lunchtime. In the afternoon, we played a Castaway Island Game about inclusion. We've had a great time being in the assigned character, and we've had to accomplish 4 big challenges, always as a group, and keeping in mind our characters differences: a blind member, a wheelchair user, etc. It has been fascinating to be in the shoes of someone else.
12 May 2025 - After a very warm welcome at the school yesterday, and after spending most of Sunday with us; we finally start the Erasmus plus mobility in Manresa.
In the morning, we have welcomed our Romanian and Italian friends with a beautiful opening ceremony. We've had music, speeches, Sardana, Bastoners, Gegants and of course name tags and the programme. We presented our city and Country and our partners presented their schools and towns/countries. After that, we've given our guests a school tour.
When we've finished, we had a delicious snack with sweet pastries and juice. After eating, we've reconnected with our partners with an Ice-breaking activity; a challenge to do as many missions around the school as possible in order to achieve the maximum amount of points.
After the activity, we've had a photography workshop and the instructions of a 4-day-long activity: An Inclusion Alphabet Photo Album.
We've eating lunch in the school Canteen; and just after eating we've engaged in a fun game to discover Manresa. A treasure hunt to recover the stolen gems and have the police.
