October 2023 - We have taken part in the International Festival of Social Cinema of Catalonia, watching an Anime film called: "Wolf Children".
The film is about a woman named Hana who falls in love with a man who can transform into a wolf. They have two children with wolf abilities, which can make it difficult for them to fit into mainstream society, which can be seen as a metaphor for individuals who feel different or excluded due to their unique qualities or backgrounds.
We thought it could be a great introduction to our project.
November 2023 - We have received the visit of Oriol, a member of the Flors Sirera House, a Civic centre here in Manresa that hosts various organizations and activities aimed at international solidarity and social justice. Oriol has delivered a workshop to our students aimed at providing valuable tools for navigating relationships by focusing on effective communication, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, and the promotion of empathy.
December 2023 - We have researched the history and development of the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
After a very interesting discussion about the need for such a charter, we have worked in groups and have analysed two of the articles in the Declaration.
We have presented to the other classmates cases when these rights have been violated. We have researched international current affairs to find examples of the current state of the most important articles in the declaration.
January 2024 - We have continued our work on the Human Rights with a Word Picture Wall. In groups, we have concentrated on important values drawn from the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
Each team has been given a word. We have written a sentence that highlights the values behind that word, and we have drawn a picture to illustrate the importance of such values.
We have crated a beautiful mural with all our work, which we now share with the rest of the school as it is displayed in the main corridor.
April 2024 - After returning from Italy, we have started to work on what it means to live with disabilities. In groups, we have researched information to create infographics about famous people with disabilities that have achieved great things. We have looked into the resilience and strength of these people, and we have analysed with empathy how hard their lives must have been compared to ours.
Once we finished the infographics, we have presented them to the rest of the class.
April 24 - Maite Siles is the Manager of the ONCE Foundation in Manresa. We were lucky she accepted our invitation to come and talk to us about her experience as a visually impaired successful woman. She brought lots of things with her: books, rules, balls, etc to explain how the life of a blind child can be. She told us about how they learn Braille and how to use the stick. We could try all these objects.
A powerful experience that has taught us resilience, empathy and will power.
