18th March 2024 - We arrived in Sicily on Saturday evening, and we spent Sunday with the families. But today, Monday 18th of March, has been the first day of our programme mobility in Altavilla.
After a very warm welcome at the school, we had an activity to understand the diversity of languages in our home countries. After a break with a delicious snack, we started working on the body percussion we will perform here in Sicily using the hymn/song against bullying we recorded in Manresa. After lunch, we explored Altavilla flowing the clues of a treasure hunt.
19th March 2024 - We started the day at 8 o'clock and on the bus, we have travelled to the beautiful costal town of Cefalù.
Upon arrival, we have done an exploration game around the town. We have learned about the rich heritage of the medieval town of Cefalù.
We met at the beach to have lunch all together, and most of us enjoyed the delicious gelato. In the afternoon, we had free time to do some shopping and enjoyed the nice atmosphere of Cefalù. At 4 o'clock we have taken the bus to return to Altavilla.
It has been a beautiful day.
20th March 2024 - Today we have visited Palermo, the capital of Sicily. We had a wonderful day learning about the rich heritage of the city and we have enjoyed talking with our Italian friends. We have started with a visit to an exhibition of puppets. They are part of the cultural heritage of the island, and they are unique, different from puppets in other parts of Europe.
Next, we have walked through the city centre. The Cathedral is amazing and we admired the beautiful architecture. Walking along the old district, we have seen the beautiful squares and buildings of the city.
After that, we have spent time in the Street Market of Palermo, there we have submerged ourselves into the colours and smells of the food on the stalls. It has been an experience.
We have had lunch in Moltivolti, a charity/ restaurant that promotes food as a dialogue between people from different cultures. We talked to some members of the organisation about what they do, and we enjoyed the delicious cosmopolitan food.
21st March 2024 - Today we have spent most of the day at school, but we have had a lot to do and a lot to think about.
It is a special day for remembering the victims of Mafia Crimes, and the school prepares a special event every year. This time it has coincided with the Erasmus mobility so, we have participated in the school events. We have rehearsed a dance routine and after the speeches from local authorities we have all danced and sang a song for peace and tolerance and to say NO to Mafia.
After a break, we have rehearsed our body percussion against bullying, which we have to perform at the school playground tomorrow.
In the afternoon, we had free time to play ball and spend time with our Italian friends... but in the evening we have had an Erasmus Party with the families. We have had great food and music, and we got our certificates.
22nd March 2024 - On our final day in Altavilla has been quite emotional. After meeting at school, we have rehearsed again our body percussion against bullying. And we have finally preformed our routine for the school, and we have recorded it.
After a nice break, we have walked to the Town Hall. There, the Mayor has received us, and we have had the opportunity to talk to him about our Erasmus experience, and about the importance of celebrating diversity in the world. We have enjoyed an exhibition of photos about the Experiences we have had during the Erasmus programme as a way to summarise all our learnings.
Before lunch, we have had a delicious gelato!
We have spent the afternoon with our host families, and later we have met at the main square in Altavilla to said our goodbyes. It has been very emotional !
