About Mrs. Castello

Hello Friends! I am so excited about our journey together this year!

I grew up in the Bay Area and quickly found an interest in sports. I enjoyed balancing soccer, softball, and karate as a child. Eventually, when college recruitment began I had to choose. I was lucky enough to receive a softball scholarship to UC Davis, where I played shortstop. Early into high school I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I hoped to create a classroom that had fun and met high expectations. At Davis, I majored in human development and double minored in coaching principles and education. I absolutely loved my academic experience at Davis and decided to continue my learning there. I received my teaching credential while also working at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine where I assisted a biosecurity and education researcher. I received a job at FCUSD teaching fourth grade the following year and decided to pursue my masters degree in education with a focus in math from Davis as well. This year will be my seventh year teaching.

My husband and I took similar paths. He was a baseball player at Davis, a Special Education Teacher, and is now an Assistant Principal at a high school. After getting married we changed our last name to Castello-Olson, but you can just call me Mrs. Castello. In our free time we like to stay active and get outdoors with our black lab. Our favorite activity is scuba diving - hence the ocean theme! Second grade is a fantastic year for discovery and building key foundational skills, but personally, my favorite part is getting to know these amazing kids.Â
