Podcasts:

• Are a series of recorded audio files

  • Each individual recording is an episode (E)

• May cover a range of topics from news, sports, hobbies, stories, etc

  • Are determined by what the host or hosts are interested in

• Length, format, style, production level, is determined by the producer (usually the host)

  • THESE CHOICES ARE A DIRECT REFLECTION OF THE HOST(S)

• Do not require the listener to “tune in” at a particular time

  • Users are able to “pull” audio files (typically MP3 files) from a podcasting site to their phones, tablets or computers so they may listen to when they are free

• Are usually free to the listener

  • Or are supported through commercials which makes them free to the listener

• Reflect the opinions and biases of the host, producer, and often the companies that support the podcast
