This course provides an introduction to the French language and culture using the total immersion method of instruction.  Students learn basic grammar and vocabulary application through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

This course offers continued study of the French language and culture using the total immersion method of instruction.  Students continue to develop their skills in grammar and vocabulary application through listening, speaking, reading and writing.  Students will be held accountable for increased self-directed learning.

This course is designed to give students advanced level instruction in the French language using the total immersion method of instruction.  Emphasis is on oral and written proficiency.  Students will be held accountable for increased self-directed learning.

French 4 is a course designed to prepare students to pass the Advanced Placement Exam in French Language. It is intended for those who have chosen to further develop their proficiency in all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is assumed that most students will be in the final stages of their secondary school training and will have had substantial course work in the language. The course emphasizes the use of French for active communication.

SPANISH 2 Grades 9-12       Prerequisite: C in Spanish 1 or

              C in Spanish 1A and 1B in FCUSD middle school

This course is designed to give advanced students continued instruction by total immersion in Spanish language.  Emphasis will continue in areas of oral, written, speaking and reading proficiency.  Students will be held accountable for continued increase in self directed learning.  ACE approved. 11th and 12th grade students may be eligible for lower division college credits with approved applications.

HONORS SPANISH 4 Grades 9-12 Prerequisite: C (B recommended) in Spanish 3

This course is comparable to a fourth semester, college-level course which will provide students with a comprehensive review of beginning and intermediate Spanish grammar. The main objectives of this course are to continue to develop students’ knowledge of the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world, promote the development of students' communicative competence in Spanish, and to develop students’ intercultural understanding. There will be many opportunities for oral

communication and conversation. Students will be expected to study and prepare for class ahead of timeso that class time may be spent communicating in Spanish, and not just talking about Spanish.
