COurses

Extended Reality (XR) encompasses a variety of immersive technologies, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality - a combination of physical and digital worlds. This course will introduce these concepts, present their evolution and commonly used tools. We will show some of the existing XR applications in Civil Engineering, specifically in AEC. Additionally, we will discuss the pros and cons of this type of technology and identify potential uses in the field of testing and experimentation.

This course aims to explain what data science is. Teach what are the main categories of machine learning. In the course, there will be a tutorial on how to approach a dataset, apply an appropriate machine learning technique and extract knowledge related to the initial data.

The course presents the underlying principle adjacent to the digital image correlation (DIC) technique. During the course the algorithms and intrinsic parameters in the implementation of the DIC technique will be presented. To know how to quantify the measurement uncertainty in a mechanical test, the main error sources linked with the DIC measurements will be identified. Furthermore, to carry out feasible measurements, emphasis to rules and standards for good practice on the DIC technique implementation will be discussed during the course.
