Coach Clennie Wilkins has spent the last 26 years coaching with Franklin County Schools. After Coaching stints in Bunn and Louisburg, Coach Wilkins settled in at FHS in 2005 and served as the longtime assistant to Coach Trent Sanders until the sudden death of Coach Sanders in 2014. Coach Wilkins took over as the Indoor and Outdoor Track Coach during the 2014 - 2015 Season and also became the Cross Country Coach in the Fall of 2015.
Under the direction of Coach Wilkins, Red Ram Running, which is the moniker coined by Coach Wilkins to reference FHS Cross Country and Track & Field, has experienced consistent growth and success. In addition to a growth in student-athlete participation in both Cross Country and Track & Field, Red Ram Running has had multiple conference championships, and a regional runner up. Additionally, Red Ram Running has had multiple individual Conference and Regional Champions and five individual State Champions. Coach Wilkins is the founder of the T. Sanders Memorial Track & Field Invitational which has been the largest High School Track & Field Invitational in NC. In addition to 5 years of T. Sanders meets, Coach Wilkins has also hosted 4 County Championship Meets, 6 Conference Championship Meets, and 6 Regional Championship Meets. His proudest achievement is the multiple Red Ram Running athletes that have gone on to run at the college level. Red Ram Running will continue to work to provide opportunities for FHS Student Athletes to be successful in running and in life. Go Red Rams!
Ashley Bauer
FHS Softball Coach
Ashley D. Bauer, head softball coach at Franklinton High School since 2015, has helped build Lady Rams Softball into a sustainable and competitive program. She has coached a total of 12 years and looks forward to this upcoming season. As an English teacher at Franklinton High School and a coach, she holds her players accountable for being student-athletes, with academics always in the lead; working with the girls to be successful on and off the field.
Prior to arriving in Franklin County. She has previously coached in Guilford County and Caswell County, where her teams won the 3A Mid State Conference and the Mid State 2A Conference, as well as qualifying four years in a row for State Playoffs.
Coach Bauer has also coached Volleyball in all listed counties and took the Bartlett Yancey High School team to state playoffs in 2014 before coming to Franklinton High.
She has been married for 8 years to her husband, Paul, and they have two children who are in the stands at games: Weston, 5 years old, and Caiden, 1.5 years old.
