David Zaccari joined the Pioneer Band in the summer of 2023. He has previously served as director in several programs across the country including Fort Madison High School in Iowa, Blackhawk in Pennsylvania, and East Liverpool and Beaver Local High Schools and Middle Schools in Ohio.
Mr. Zaccari is originally from Greensburg, PA, and is a 2002 graduate of Westminster College with a degree in Music Education with a specialization in percussion and additional focus in voice and composition. Mr. Zaccari has also taken courses at several other colleges and universities throughout his career.
Mr. Zaccari is proud to serve in the Frederick County Public School System along with his wife, Janis Sylves, 5th grade teacher at Redbud Run. He is the proud father of two daughters, Hanna and Wendy. In addition to teaching music, he enjoys camping and wilderness, writing, composing, and performing music, and would gladly take on the mantle of "rock star" if the opportunity presented itself.
Dr. Moody has been a percussion instructor with Millbrook High School since the 2021 season. Before
coming to Winchester as a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Shenandoah Conservatory, he worked
with marching bands in Georgia, including Lee County High School, Thomas County High School, and
Valdosta State University. He received his Doctorate in Percussion Performance in 2020 and now
teaches privately and performs in the area.
Leo Prothero grew up in Fairfax, VA, and is the Band Director at Daniel Morgan Intermediate School in Winchester City. He holds a B.M. in Music Education from James Madison University, where he was a member of the JMU Brass Band, Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, and Marching Royal Dukes. In 2022, he traveled to Kerkrade, Netherlands with the JMU Brass Band to compete in the World Music Contest, and won First Place with the JMU Percussion Ensemble at the 2022 North American Brass Band Championships Percussion Ensemble competition. He resides in Winchester with his cat, Natasha.
Dr. Romich is thrilled to be the new color guard director for Millbrook High School! She currently teaches music at Evendale Elementary School in Winchester, VA. Dr. Romich received her Bachelor's in Music Education and a Masters in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance from Shenandoah University. She also received a Doctorate in Vocal Performance from West Virginia University. Throughout her college years she was a music theatre and opera performer for schools and community programs. She has taught music and drama at the preschool, elementary, middle, high school, and collegiate levels and has been an assistant teaching Marching Band. During this time period she has also served as a Director, Music Director, and Choreographer for several musical theatre productions in the schools and community. Dr. Romich just finished the indoor color guard season with the Millbrook High School and looks forward to next year and all of the opportunities for the guard!
