As a new student to Millbrook High School, there are several scheduling options for you depending on what your interests are. All members of our ensembles are required to be enrolled in one of our concert bands as their core class. This is where the bulk of musical instruction and development occurs, which feed into the faucets of all other ensembles. Placement within these concert bands is based primarily on the student's technical skills, musical literacy, and attitude.
On occasion, some students may have an academic schedule that precludes them from putting concert band in their schedule due to availability of other classes. We make every effort to work with students and parents/guardians on a case-by-case basis to ensure they can be enrolled.
Once enrolled in the appropriate concert band, you have additional ensembles in which you can elect to enroll (though none are required):
Jazz Ensemble (Meets during zero period from 7:00 am - 7:55 prior to the start of the school day for class credit)
Marching Band (Rehearsals begin in the late summer and take place after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:50 - 5pm through the beginning of November for class credit. YES you CAN participate in Marching Band and any other MHS Activity/Sport!)
Indoor Percussion (extracurricular ensemble that runs from November - end of March focusing on percussion techniques for marching and stationary percussionists)
Winter Guard (extracurricular ensemble that runs from November - end of March focusing on dance and guard equipment technique)
