STARTALK Mission
STARTALK is a federal grant program managed and funded by the National Security Agency. STARTALK grants fund innovative programs with strong language learning outcomes for K-16 students in support of the STARTALK goals. STARTALK grants currently support programs offered in the following critical need languages: Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian, and Russian.
What is FCPS1 Startalk?
Throughout the program participants will:
develop Arabic language proficiency by exploring animal habitats and learning how food is grown through hands-on experiences and visiting local nature centers
engage in interactive language activities and extended day field trips centered around the theme: “What can we learn about the environment?” while exploring countries in the Arab speaking world as well as the local environment
Who can attend?
Any student who will enter grades 5-9 during the 2023-24 school year. This includes students enrolled in FCPS1 as well as homeschooled students, students attending private school, and students who live outside of Fauquier County.
